First screenshots of Dragon Age: Inquisition single-player DLC

By Tom Phillips

The first award, Firestarter (15G), is awarded for destroying all Winter Shards and lighting all fires in a new location, the "Old Temple".
The next, Legend-Marked (30G), is awarded when you impress the Avvar tribe of Stone-Bear Hold and gain their friendship. The human Avvar have already made an appearance in Inquisition, although their influence was fairly minor.
Players were previously asked to impress a Dalish clan in what may be a similar fashion - via completing side-quests and missions to rank up influence.

The third award, Historian (30G), hints at you uncovering secrets of a "legendary figure". An elf is shown in the imagery.

And the final award, Winter's End (90G), is awarded when you "dispel a myth of ancient days".
Speaking to Eurogamer earlier this month, Dragon Age: Inquisition creative director Mike Laidlaw hinted that the game's first single-player add-on would be revealed in the not-too-distant future.
Laidlaw said that he was aware that fans wanted new areas to explore, but also a story continuation for the game's post-credits scene.
"The two big pulls are - 'I want more of this game' and 'I've reached the ending and I want to know more about the characters, or one specific character'," Laidlaw teased.
"I don't want to go into too much detail but I'm well aware of both of those camps and I'd like to see both of those groups satisfied before we're done."

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition Offers 5 Playable Characters, Including Vergil

New characters, costumes, and more coming in the Xbox One/PS4/PC re-release.

Capcom has finally revealed the details of its upcoming Special Edition release of Devil May Cry 4, which will feature the most playable characters in a DMC game to date.
In addition to Dante and Nero, both of which were playable in DMC 4, Dante's brother Virgil is being added to the game's roster. Virgil will be an amalgamation of the Devil May Cry 3 and 2013 Devil May Cry versions, according to Capcom's blog. Joining him as new characters are Trish and Lady.
The official details on all three new characters:

  • Vergil: Dante's ice-cold twin brother and master of the iaijutsu sword fighting style. As described by the game's director, Hideaki Itsuno, Vergil will have a fully upgradable move set based on his rendition in Devil May Cry 3 Special Editionwith elements of DmC Devil May Cry's Vergil added in, making this the definitive version of the character. He will also feature a new "Concentration" mechanic, which makes his attacks get more powerful the more flawlessly he fights. Vergil will be playable on any mission.
  • Trish: Resident badass since her first appearance in the first Devil May Cry's opening cutscene, Trish does away with the need for weapon switching, instead utilizing the versatile Sparda sword, her pistols, and her bare hands in a variety of inventive ways. Trish allows players to fight with relatively few buttons, but is still quite a deep character with an awesome move set. Trish will be playable on Dante's missions.
  • Lady: Playable for the first time, Lady specializes in long-range, firearm-based combat, making the game feel completely different. Her signature weapon, the Kalina Ann, features a grappling hook which allows her to traverse environments similarly to Nero, among other applications. Lady will be playable on Nero's missions.
Also being added is the Legendary Dark Knight mode that lets players fight through huge waves of enemies. This was first seen in the PC version of DMC 4.
All of this runs in 1080p at 60 frames per second, with other, unspecified "improvements to the game tempo and balancing" being made. You can also count on seeing new costumes that you'll even be able to see during cutscenes.

Battlefield Hardline review

by

The traditional nostalgic view of boys at play is that old playground classic of 'war', where kids pelt around the tarmac making "akka-akka-akka" noises and pretending to shoot each other with machine gun sticks. The alternate to that scenario is, of course, cops and robbers, so it makes sense that for its first foray outside of the military milieu Battlefield would swap tanks for squad cars.

We've already taken a look at Hardline's campaign, so won't be wasting any more time on it for this review. Suffice to say, for all its TV cop show presentation, it's a disappointingly limited, linear and lifeless effort that favours clunky stealth over full-blooded action. At best, you'll hammer through it in order to earn a stack of bonus Battlepacks for use in the real meat of the game: multiplayer.

While the campaign at least pays lip service to the idea that you're playing as an officer of the law, giving you the option to arrest enemies for more XP but not really caring if you shoot them in the back either, such details are absent from online play. Here, it's kill or be killed, due process be damned. If you shoot a criminal in the head with a sniper shot from 100m, or grind him to paste under the wheels of a truck, it's all good.

Aliens: Colonial Marines SEGA about to pay $ 1.25 million for "false advertising"

Upon his release, Aliens: Colonial Marines was so disappointed some fans of the creature Giger ( RIP ) that a group of 135,000 individuals had filed complaint against SEGA (editor) for false advertising , claiming that the trailers and other promotional materials were deliberately misleading to knowingly sell a product of poor quality. Gearbox (developer) and SEGA had, at the time, said the trial was "baseless" .
However, the court did not agree. According to some legal documents in the California Court, the fine will SEGA was $ 1.25 million, bringing the damages at about 59.99 dollars per person. Both complainants who initiated the proceedings, Damion Perrine and John Locke, receive $ 2,500, once the legal fees (312,500 dollars) and administrative expenses (200,000 dollars) removed.
Note that the decision is not yet in force formally, it must still be approved by the court. If SEGAis willing to pay (there is still an opportunity for the studio to appeal the judgment), it would be protected from prosecution of this case. Gearbox , however, could still taste the ire of the two complainants, if they decide to continue.

The Sims 4

Almost a year after having seen The Sims 4 for the first time, we were finally able to feel again the beast in order to assess trends and novelties, mouse in hand. After several hours of play on a full version, here are our impressions.

Difficult to have a more complete Sims 4 what was offered there overview. Indeed, we were treated to 5-6 hours of play on a near-final version, which already provides a fairly accurate idea of the qualities and defects of this new opus. Note however that various optimizations are still ongoing and we do not hold that against the few technical problems glimpses here and there. There are however only hope that the remaining months of development will be enough to erase the many framerate drops seen on a config yet more muscular. Even more annoying, loading times always occur when leaving the field . Whether this is still current at the time of release, but as it stands, it is a big black spot, especially a regression compared to the 3rd opus that do no understand.

More intuitive constructions

Preview The Sims 4 PC - Screenshot 26Construction will never been so intuitive.
That being said, you get into the game by passing initially by the famous editor Sims. We do not, however, we shall dwell on it because it has already been the subject of several presentations on the site. After selecting the physical and especially the personality and aspirations of our Sim, so we start by choosing its field. Two cities are proposed: one typical east coast of the United States with a rather green aspect, and a second kind west coast appearance with desert terrain and a tramway network in San Francisco. Whatever choice is made, it must then logically build his house. And it is clear that at this level, it was widely grown in flexibility. It simply places predefined shapes and their size is changed with a mouse movement. A room is too small? Do not worry, you can click on at any time and then use the arrows that appear to enlarge. Want to raise it? Simply place the foundations afterwards. No need therefore to demolish everything every time, all the furniture layout automatically adapts. Moreover, speaking of furniture, know that players who want to simplify their lives more can use pre-furnished rooms available in several colors. For each type of room, there are 6-7 choices, even for the garden, which already offers an interesting variety. However, those who wish to decorate their home A to Z also find a few interesting new features, starting with the ability to place any object at the height of his choice on a wall. This can be a lamp, an alarm, a phone, but also television and kitchen furniture. In short, at this level, there is not much to be deplored, if not decried the absence of both pools. Moreover, it is all the more incomprehensible that similar basins in their design are available.

Emotional Sims

Preview The Sims 4 PC - Screenshot 27Emotions unlock new dialogue options.
By engaging in play, the first thing to do is choose his work. In the basic version, we are offered 8 different careers among the classics of the series: secret agent, criminal, chef, astronaut, painter, writer, engineering or technology used in entertainment. From there, you just treat her mood and skills to progress, just as in every installment of the series actually. So we spend 80% of his time with his Sims sleeping or work without having something else to do than to accelerate the passage of time. Moreover, the maximum level seems slower than before hair, which generates a bit of trouble. Too bad it was there yet an axis of interesting development manage Sim at work. Yet it seems obvious as it is an important aspect of life. Regardless, the developers chose to focus their work on a new system of managing emotions. This little at first, I must admit that he manages to enrich the gameplay in the long term. In short, depending on the nature of our Sim and his life every day, it will feel different emotions that unlock new actions and will to change its expression and approach. For example, a happy Sim can brighten the day of another or give her a compliment, one that is seductive mood can more easily take a victory in his bed, while he who has just been rebuffed will be unable to succeed in everything he undertakes. And things can go even further. My womanizer for example depressed many girls before dying of shame when one of his conquests refused his marriage proposal. In short, this new aspect of the game brings still more in a way that seems somewhat lacking novelties. The multitasking is thus relates a small part of the actions and unfortunately we have not really been able to test the import / export houses and Sims in-game. Sure, the experience remains very fun, but Sims 4 seems for the moment a little too close to his elders to convince completely.
