Broforce surpasses Half-Life 2 Walking Dead and Garry’s Mod

By Zoe Hawkins

Broforce is so typically South African. No, not because if anything in the game, but because it follows the usual South African model for success: be loved by locals when you’re small, but as soon as you make it big, be forgotten by the local scene. Don’t worry though, we can totally claim these guys as our own, and they are making serious waves on Steam.
Broforce is currently in the top 20 of highest rated games on Steam by user score, as announced by Free Lives developer Ruan Rothmann on twitter:

Since the tweet they’ve been pushed down to #15 by the Portal Bundle, but it’s still rather impressive. It’s about on par with beloved games like Bastion and Mark of the Ninja, beating out other standard winners like Garry’s Mod, Borderlands 2, The Binding of Isaac and even Half-Life 2. With tons of thumbs up reviews and an avid following, Broforce is doing insanely well – something particularly impressive when you consider that the game is still in Early Access. Of course we would love for them to just release the game already, but it seems to be a viable game even in Early Access form.
It’s great to see a local indie doing so well – not just well by South African standards, but well by a global one. It’s had an excellent impact on the local scene; Cape Town is exploding with game studios and even Joburg is growing. Our local game development is maturing and it’s beautiful to see; with a big group attending GDC this year, I’m keen to see if 2015 isn’t the year of South African indies.

DriveClub developer Evolution set to lose 55 staff, sources say

by

Evolutions Studios, the developer of PlayStation 4-exclusive racing game DriveClub, is set to lose 55 staff, sources familiar with the matter have told Eurogamer.

Two independent sources close to the studio mentioned the 55 figure to Eurogamer after the cuts were announced to staff at the Runcorn-based developer last Friday, 20th March.

That's roughly half of the studio, sources say, with the redundancies affecting permanent staff. One source indicated some of the 55 may be retained as contractors, but that's up in the air at this point.

Overlord's return teased by Codemasters

By Connor Sheridan

You can't keep a good (bad) guy down. After a few years of absence - maybe he was trying to turn over a new leaf or something - the Overlord from the third-person action RPG series of the same name seems ready to return to his wicked ways.

Codemasters conducted a grand Twitter sketch teasing news for the Overlord series earlier today, with an account of a solar eclipse viewing party interrupted by reddening skies, quaking earth, and an object crashing into the parking lot, all culminating in an image of the Overlord's distinct spiky helmet. Not very informative, but I'll still take it over a plain website with a countdown clock.

Codemasters did offer a little bit more color (if not much more detail) via the official Overlord account, which has apparently been taken over by Gnarl, the cantankerous adviser from the first two games. After grumbling about life on Earth and smartphones for a while, the account pledged that it "won't be the last you hear from us", as "evil always finds a way".

Speaking of evil, Overlord is kinda like Pikmin if it starred Sauron instead of a cute little spaceman, all while subverting the standard fantasy setting with some unusual moral quandaries. The series also has a good sense of humor, largely instilled by writer Rhianna Pratchett. She's currently working on Rise of the Tomb Raider, so it's not clear if she would have time for whatever this new stuff turns out to be.

The natural guess is Overlord 3, but you never know - maybe it's a mobile game. Codemasters has done a few mobile racers in recent years, and building an evil lair and ordering minions around on an iPad sounds pretty good... as long as it turns out better than Dungeon Keeper. The basic premise could work just about anywhere, really, since minions are big right now.

I sent an email out to Codemasters to see if I could extract any more firm details about what this social media resurgence means for the Overlord series, but I haven't heard back yet. I'll let you know when I find out more.

GTA Online servers for cheaters.

cheaters-pool-alert-700x197

While most developers are blocking access to their multiplayer modes for players who cheat - usually using a program to override the rules of the game - that's the time to disable the program in question or a ban without appeal Rockstar has a different policy. As in Max Payne 3, the detected cheaters will be redirected to special servers .
A recent video confirms . Obviously, we must use a third party programto be classified as cheating, because of the rarity of this conviction. Have accidentally copied a vehicle is therefore unlikely to cause you any problems. But the servers for cheaters they are a Disneyland where players are free from the limitations of the game? Nothing is less certain because of the side effects are worth noting:
  • The regular sessions are unreachable , as well as in fashion bad player. It only occurs with cheats.
  • A cheater is consistently ranked bad player with the dunce cap to match.
  • All the money that was lost . However you keep your level of experience, vehicles and his apartment.
  • Finally, there remain four months of time in prison .
From the perspective of Rockstar, such a system is less risky than a simple ban on players involved. Indeed they could attack the developer of a game that they were blocking access. This is not the case with strategy Rockstar.

GC 14 - Dying Light comes to town and shows her with a cooperative multiplayer trailer

Dying Light August 7, 2014 head
For a long time,  Dying Light would just turn around in a "exotic" residential area rather in hisofficial visual . But for  gamescom 2014 , as the 2014 E3 ,  Warner Bros. Games wanted to show us something different, namely a vast urban terrain in which we can move through our donation for parkour . Urban neighborhoods, commercial and industrial buildings, buildings under construction, sewers and more can be crossed, all objects falling under our hand can be used to enter the zombies that populate the city.
And for the first time, we also discover that the world can be explored in multiplayer for cooperation involving up to four people. To better distinguish us from our fellow potential, it is even possible to customize our survivor. The result is very impressive, and offsets the recent report, which will require the project to be released in February 2015 .

The developers had benefited to increase the realism of the  Premier League , with the modeled here twenty stadiums where only eight were in  FIFA 14 , and the digitization of more than 200 new faces of international stars. It will also rely on the presence of inlays statistics, scores, stopwatch and team composition inspired television broadcasts, or songs, encouragement and environments more credible, more than two hours of songs fans have been recorded in several stages.
Icing on the cake, the  Goal Line Technology has met the public at the last World Cup will indeed appeared in the  FIFA 15 . The " system validation purposes "does not change the situation of the game, machines are already infallible as it was to see if the virtual ball was returned or not in the cage, but the activities at issue will become more animated. We can enjoy it from 25 September 2014. Sacred 3

Generally, when one takes the trouble to announce a new episode of an expensive license to many players, they are entitled to expect to find the fundamentals that have managed to seduce them in the previous sections , hoping beneficial improvements that are part of the zeitgeist. Unfortunately the hard fans of Sacred 2 may go to great disappointments.

We foresaw as it was revealed: Sacred 3 has very little to do with the foundations of his predecessors. If we still operate in the same universe, the title developed by Keen Games abandons all the elements that made the charm of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel in favor of a much nearer approach beat'em as generic hack slash the strong RPG component.

Corridors and arenas

Test Sacred 3 PC - Screenshot 23A corridor and arenas, the only freedoms offered by Sacred 3.
You were probably already aware, Sacred 3 does not offer open world. After selecting a character from the few available classes (particularly unattractive and archetypal, by the way), you emerge into a corridor, which itself opens to an arena. Hordes of enemies will attack you necessarily: it will then be up to defeat in a jiffy to move on. The rest of the movement in the world of Sacred 3 will be via a mini-map. It is divided into different areas that will advance the anecdotal history of the game, interspersed with much less interesting portions that you simply propose to overcome successive waves of enemies. Thus, we immediately forget all pretense of exploration to leave entirely guided by the directional axes you never very far away , but not to take interest in a scenario stamp not exciting for a penny.
Test Sacred 3 PC - Screenshot 24Fighting, very nags, emit a good sense of power
Exclusively focused on bourrinage, playability Sacred 3 is suitable without being transcendent. A little too rigid keyboard and better adapted to pad the gameplay consist mainly clubbing constantly the mouse button to Klitschko violent or those intended to break the enemy shields shots, while two buttons will be assigned to your projected special moves. All works correctly even if, overall, each class plays the same way, a sense of défouloir disclaims all clashes. These will bring you experience and gold. Not true loot here, the only weapons you will not unlock at the end of a fight against a boss finding a portion of the game map

A character customization too limited

Test Sacred 3 PC - Screenshot 25Customization is particularly stark.
Thus, the experience you will unlock new moves once a certain level is reached, while gold will allow you to buy so that you can equip. The options for customizing your character is particularly limited and not very interesting, especially as the interface for access is a disaster ergonomics. Actually the RPG aspect is here practically undermined, which will scream heresy much fans of the license , which will undoubtedly trouble digesting what appears to feelings of betrayal to taste too bitter. Sacred 3 has become a beat'em all there is more classic, in which the cards follow each other too easily, which ends without thinking too much and it ends with the feeling of not experience an epic adventure. Worse, a true feeling of repetitiveness quickly pointing the tip of his nose , the increase in the adventure too often being subject to the same mechanical. Finally, regular interventions and spoken your guide are fast enough annoying, humor demonstrated by the protagonists of your adventure sorely lacking finesse. This last point, however, will differ depending on the assessment of each.

Still things to defend?

Test Sacred 3 PC - Screenshot 26Sacred 3 offers quite nice and varied environments.
All these elements make blood boil those who expected a strong successor to Sacred 2. For others, this third journey into the world of Arcania he has something to defend? Yes, admittedly, even if the arguments in favor of the title are struggling to balance its flaws. Technically, if the set is not unstoppable, Sacred 3 lets look pleasantly. Some transitions within the same level are pretty nice and a real work has been done on the diversity of environments. Very colorful and effective aspect of the game is far from discouraged, especially as the effects of your spells are mostly cared for, as well as your enemies, they are not very different, have the merit benefit from a character design sometimes rather inspired.
Test Sacred 3 PC - Screenshot 27The coop mode should keep you busy for a while.
In addition, the game experienced a slight surge of interest by its co-op mode, you can join at any time during the game locally and A 2 to 4 online multiplayer is pretty nice and is a good stress relief if fatigue of playing alone were to seize you. The difficulty will adapt depending on the number of players participating in the game, and even if the fights are not fundamentally strategic, some spells to augment the capabilities of your group used to give at least the illusion of the player actually collaborate in a team. Everything you need to kill time without convince you that fashion was essential to the game
